Confidence starts with the right trip
Planning a trip is exciting—but before we dive into the fun stuff, let’s cover a few essentials that help keep your travel smooth, stress-free, and protected.
Whether you're heading out on your first big adventure or you're a seasoned traveler, things like travel insurance, a valid passport, and enrolling in STEP (Smart Traveler Enrollment Program) are key parts of the prep process—especially for international trips.
Below, I’ve put together everything you need to know to make sure you're fully ready to explore with confidence.
Passport- Don't wait to apply or renew!
Don't Forget Your Passport!
To ensure a smooth and stress-free travel experience, please make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date. If you don’t have a passport yet, or if yours is expired or nearing expiration, we highly recommend applying for or renewing it as soon as possible. Processing times can vary, and delays happen—so the earlier, the better!

Travel Insurance — Peace of mind on the go!
Travel is exciting… but let’s be real, things don’t always go as planned. That’s why I highly recommend getting travel insurance, especially if you're going out of the country. Most U.S. health insurance won’t cover you abroad, and if something happens—like a flight delay, lost luggage, or a medical emergency—it’s better to be covered than stressed.
Whether you’re traveling solo, with a group, or on one of my curated experiences, insurance gives you peace of mind. It protects your trip (and your pockets) if the unexpected pops up.
Some destinations even require it, but honestly? It’s just smart to have. If you need help finding the right policy, I can point you in the right direction. I personally use Allianz Travel Insurance, but you’re welcome to choose the provider that works best for you.
STEP-Smart Traveler's Enrollment Program
If you’re traveling internationally, one of the smartest (and easiest) things you can do is enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). It’s a free service by the U.S. Department of State that connects you to the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate while you’re overseas.
Why should you enroll?
Because life happens — and if it does while you’re out of the country, STEP helps you stay informed and supported. Whether it’s a natural disaster, civil unrest, or just important updates in your destination, STEP makes sure you’re in the loop. Plus, if there’s an emergency back home, the U.S. Embassy will have a way to contact you quickly.
Benefits of STEP:
Get real-time safety alerts for the country you’re visiting
Makes it easier for the embassy to assist you in an emergency
Gives your loved ones peace of mind knowing you're registered
It’s fast, free, and takes just a few minutes
I encourage all of my international travelers to enroll!
